Have you noticed that most of the people you interact with in life are going to disagree with you on at least a few things? Unless you’ve been living under a rock, the answer is yes. But you probably also learned that it’s important to be able to assert your own position without getting ensnared up in a petty argument.

If you’re curious about the best way to disagree with someone without harming the relationship, here are six tips that you can start applying immediately…

 1. Never Argue With a Fool

One of the most important ways to disagree with someone without causing an argument, is to simply avoid interactions with people who argue just to argue. In other words, if you can tell that someone is wasting a contrary opinion simply for the sake of engaging you in a debate, don’t waste your time. Simply acknowledge your own disagreement in the silence of your heart and move on.

People are seldom if ever persuaded by debating, and engaging someone who “just likes to debate” sets you on the same juvenile level as them. There’s an old saying that goes “Never argue with a fool because people watching from a distance may not be able to tell the difference.” Remember this the next time someone disagrees with you, and choose your battles accordingly

 2. Focus On Understanding First

Most of the time, when someone seems to be arguing with you all they’re trying to do is get you to understand their point of view. The problem is that many of us get confused and think that if we affirm to someone that we understand them that we are somehow agreeing with them. But the moment you begin to focus on understanding someone, and demonstrating to them that you understand them, they’ll be much more likely to respect you…even if you disagree.

 3. Value the Truth Above All

Sometimes, disagreeing with a person is not the best course of action. After all, there will be times when you are wrong and the other person is right…but your pride simply keeps you from admitting that you’re wrong. The next time you find yourself in a discussion where he seemed to be disagreeing with the person, switch your focus and concentrate on making the point of the discussion a search for what’s true.

You never know what you might learn if you just learn to listen and focus on truth instead of on your opinion or the other person’s opinion.

 4. Offer Your Opinion as “Food for Thought”

Instead of offering your opinion as being counter to the other person’s, offer it as “something to think about” instead. This can be a very effective way of presenting your opinion without offending someone. For instance, if someone tells you that their interpretation of something is _____, offer your view by saying something like: “That’s an interesting point, but here’s something else to think about…”

This way, you’re affirming their viewpoints before suggesting yours, and you’re suggesting it as a question instead of the statement of truth.

 5. Watch Your Tone

Everyone knows that the tone in which you say something speaks volumes and that it’s sometimes more than the statement itself. Since it can be very difficult to read whether or not there is judgment, agitation, anger or arrogance in your voice, practice recording yourself while you’re talking about something that you strongly disagree with.

Really take the time to describe why you disagree with it, and listen to the recording after you’re done. You might be surprised at what kinds of hidden messages there are in the tone of your voice. You’ll also be much quicker to correct your tone and to speak with respect to people, even when you’re disagreeing with them.

 6. Know Your Motives

This is probably the most important thing you can do when it comes to relating with people that you disagree with: know your motives. Really stop and ask yourself whether you are disagreeing with the person or if you’re simply trying to be heard and understood. Most of the time, people will continue to voice opposing opinions if they don’t feel that they are being heard.

If they continue to feel that they’re not being heard or understood, they sometimes start belittling the other person’s viewpoints just to “get back at them.” So really search yourself and find out whether or not you are voicing your opinion for the sake of contributing to the interaction, or if you’re just wanting someone to hear you and understand you.

TIP: If you have strong opinions which are getting you into arguments with other people, it might be a good idea to find out why you feel so strongly about them. Most often defensiveness towards others is due to inner conflict. Working these kinds of things out can make your interactions with other people much better.

But many are also skeptical of how your thoughts alone could attract all of the results into your life…even the things that you don’t want. If you’re also curious about how the law of attraction works, and how you can use it to get whatever you want out of life, this article will help you get started.

How the Law of Attraction Works

The thing which confuses many people about the Law of Attraction (aka “The Secret”) is how you could attract something into your life simply by thinking about it…and you can’t. But it’s been scientifically proven that your thoughts have a significant impact on the electrical vibration of your nervous system and that they therefore influence your emotional states and the actions which flow out of it. So if you’re constantly thinking about things that you want, and if the vision and your mind is specific enough it will send a message to the nerves within your muscles and prepare them for action.

But the Law of attraction also creates a level of awareness in your mind which causes you to begin having flashes of inspiration and “hunches” which will guide you in the direction of what you are thinking about. Have you ever noticed how people who know exactly what they want are consistently working towards it and being presented with opportunities to have it? This has nothing to do with luck, fate or divine intervention. It’s simply their mind being “tuned in” to what they want and influencing their actions and intuition in such a way that they eventually get what they think about.

So how can you start using the Law of Attraction to influence your mind and body in such a way?

First, Have a Burning Desire.

One of the simplest and most effective pieces of advice in regard to getting what you want is having a burning desire to see it accomplished. People who know exactly what they want meditate on it until it becomes a burning are bound to figure out how to get it eventually. They are more likely to recognize opportunities to pursue the object of their desire when those opportunities arise. But most important, they are quicker to get back up and reapply themselves when they fail, which helps them to leverage even their failures as learning opportunities.

So the first step towards using the Law of Attraction effectively is having a burning desire and a specific goal, whether it be to manifest financial prosperity (with an exact figure in mind), better health (again, with an exact healthy goal or ideal weight) or any other kind of goal which you can turn into a burning desire.

Second, Lifestyle Design and Planning.

The second step to using the Secret to manifest prosperity, health or romance is to begin building your lifestyle around the object of your desire. This means that you do whatever you can to make it the most prevalent thought in your mind. You can use a vision board, meditation, journaling or spoken affirmations. Use whatever you need to create a vividly imagined experience of you already in possession of the object of your desire. Most important, begin developing a specific plan for how you are going to achieve it and get to work on that plan right away, whether you’re ready or not.

As simple as these may sound, the results are to be proof enough once you get started applying these two steps. The more you do this, the more you’ll be convinced of the power practicality of the Law of Attraction.

If you think that was good, or you’re just hungry for more information, follow this link to learn more finding your life purpose …

Free Life Changing Self Help Book

Do you yearn to live a more fulfilled, more satisfying life? If so then what are you doing to get there? Are you taking unconditional accountability for the course of your own life or is your plan to just hope things improve?

Understand this, there is no such thing as a short cut to living a full and satisfying life. Self improvement is the most important step you can take to enjoy the life you desire. It’s true, achievement is a learned skill. And if you fail to make learning how to succeed in life a personal quest then it’s more than likely the success you seek will forever elude you.

Which personal development steps can be undertaken in order to achieve more? The following seven suggestions provide only a starting point. Your evolution needs to be a work in progress without a finish line.

1. Tune into your purpose
Are you drifting through life without direction with only hope of finding ultimate fulfillment? By identifying your life’s purpose you’ll be providing yourself a unique compass which will lead you absolutely to your desired destination every time. Your journey to success will present numerous hurdles, it is this unique compass which will help guide you through.

2. Be aware of your own values
What is it you value most? Identify your 5 most important values. Some of what you value could be safety, time freedom, your loved ones, health, education and so on. As you set your life and business goals, make sure they are in line with your values. If the goals you set do not jibe with your values, they may not be the right goals.

3. Be aware of your needs
Your own needs gone unattended will keep you from living as your true self. Put yourself as number one. Love yourself first. This world is chock filled with people who do not acknowledge the needs they have. And when needs go unacknowledged that usually always means dreams will go unfulfilled. Be aware of your top five needs and make sure that they become filled before it’s too late!

4. Your passions are paramount
Nobody else can determine that which makes you happy. Temporary obstacles like self doubt and weak enthusiasm can hinder you, however they will not stop you. Not as long as you know what your true passions are.

5. On the inside first then the outside second
Your outer world is a reflection of your inner world. If the life you’re living is not what you’d hoped it would be then take do a personal evaluation. Get into a daily habit of sitting quietly with your thoughts. Take a look at where you are in life and envision where it is you wish to be. Do you have a belief in yourself that you can get there? Is there some inner conflict you need to deal with in order to realize your dream success? This point is crucial and cannot be taken lightly.

6. Pay homage to your strengths
What are your strongest traits? What unique talents do you have? Make a list of three – if you get stuck, ask those closest to you to help uncover them. Are you creative, witty or mechanically inclined? Find ways to showcase your authentic self through your strengths. You can increase your self-confidence when you allow others in on your gifts.

7. Learn to serve others
After you’ve gotten a handle on the previous 6 suggestions, you will discover an interconnected sense of being. When you are true to who you are, live with purpose and share your talents to the world, your true essence will then emerge. The many rewrds you will enjoy for serving others with your special gifts will far exceed your wildest imagination. The appreciation people will have for what you’re able to do for them will come back to you immeasurably.

Self-improvement is indeed one type of work that is always worth the effort. To continue your journey towards success, you may download a free copy of Daniel Herzner’s self help book A Plum In The Syrup.

When Janice was in high school, she had secured a reputation as a person who hit the books real hard and who rarely, if ever, had fun drinking with her friends. She seemed highly motivated to “shine” academically so that she would be able to secure a career that she not only liked but one that also gave her some security from a financial point of view.

After much thought, in due course she came to a decision that she wanted to be a trial lawyer. In order to do this, however, she would first have to complete four years of undergraduate education.

After Completing High School Janice Gets Accepted Into A Prominent Undergraduate University as a Springboard For a Career as a Lawyer

After Janice graduated from high school, she applied to and was accepted into a highly rated program in history. Her rationale for this decision was that this subject area would be good training for law school and wouldn’t be indistinguishable from the preponderance of law school applicants who choose political science as their undergraduate minor or major.

After graduating with a 3.9 GPA at the undergrad level, she applied to and was accepted at a nationally ranked law school at one of the Big Ten universities.

She was enthusiastic about her legal studies but sometimes she was besieged with all the work that had to be done at law school. In much the same way as she had done in her high school and undergraduate days, nonetheless, she made friends without much effort but scarcely got involved in social activities until the semester was completed.

After Being Delighted With the Fact That She Had Done Very Well on Her Finals, Janice Wanted to Let Her Hair Down and Do Something Besides Going to College For a Change

Janice was the kind of person who worked studiously to complete what she started and then would take a break when she could. As it turns out, nevertheless, nearly all of the things she did between terms or during her summer vacations did not have much to do with drinking. Clearly, Janice was anything but a party-girl. Now that her finals for her second year in law school were completed and thrilled with the fact that she had done a super job on her finals, nonetheless, she wanted to let her hair down and do something besides going to college for a change.

Drinking at a Local Saloon Results in Alcohol Poisoning, Calling 911, The Emergency Services Number, and An Ambulance Ride to An Alcohol Rehab Center

So Janice and some of her friends from college went to a local tavern where they had a few beers. As the hours went by, Janice continued to drink without having a care in the world about exams the next day. Indeed, Janice mentioned to her pals how nice it was to have fun drinking with her law school friends.

As the evening progressed, Janice and her classmates continued to drink. As a matter of fact, she was having such a splendid time that she didn’t want the night to end. It was almost like she was making up for lost time and making an attempt to shove a year’s worth of laughter and fun into a single evening. Such a “game plan,” it needs to be stressed, does not often work. As a matter of fact, when Janice went to the powder room and threw up, her friends started to feel uneasy about her safety.

A few moments later when Janice started to speak in a confused manner, slur her words, and then fall unconscious, however, her pals immediately realized that they needed to call 911 and ask for medical assistance because they suspected that Janice was exhibiting alcohol poisoning symptoms.

Once Janice was in the hospital, the lead healthcare professional corroborated what her buddies had hypothesized, that is to say, that Janice consumed far more alcohol than her body could process and, as a result, she experienced an alcohol overdose.

After the emergency room medical staff pumped her stomach until no gastric contents were visible, Janice was placed in the recovery room. After staying about four hours in recovery, Janice was then transferred to one of the regular hospital rooms. Fortunately, the most dangerous part of her hospitalization had passed and all of her vital signs were back to normal.

In response to Janice’s medical predicament, her buddies attentively called her Mom and Dad. As a consequence, early the next morning, her Mother and Father and her best friends went to the hospital to visit Janice and look into her medical progress.

Janice Narrowly Escapes Death, is Happy to be Alive, and Promises to Never Again Drink in an Abusive and Excessive Manner

Janice was very aware that she had narrowly escaped death and, as a result, was happy to be alive. At the same time, nonetheless, she was somewhat disheartened knowing that she had almost passed away the previous night. Her Mother and Father realized how intensely she studied in graduate school and how little she permitted herself to socialize with her pals. Nevertheless, they also knew that Janice needed to steer clear of excessive drinking.

As a consequence, they suggested that down the road, whenever a drinking opportunity develops, that she always drink in moderation. Janice agreed and assured her parents and her friends that she would never again drink in an excessive and hazardous manner. As stated by Janice, “I never thought that I would become one of the alcohol abuse and alcoholism statistics in the local newspaper. I now realize that excessive drinking is not for me. I give my word of honor that this will never happen again.”

Fortunately, Janice was not only “book smart” but she also had common sense. Stated more explicitly, she rapidly grasped the fact that she had made an error in judgment and decided that she would never make the same error again. In actual fact, she now realized that she had involved herself in “binge drinking” and that even one instance of this type of excessive drinking can end in a loss of life.

The conversations that go on in our heads can easily color our thinking which will directly affect our behaviors in various ways. We may not realize it but the conversations many of us have with ourselves can be negative and self-defeating. Since our mind is within our control, why not feed it with positive thoughts?

While thinking positively easy enough but for it to really work, it has to start from the very essence and core of your mind and self. A surefire method of attacking negativity at its core is by practicing positive self-affirmations. The power of positive affirmations lie in reconditioning your brain to eliminate negative self-talk and drastically change how you think and feel of just about ANY situation.

Here are 5 reasons why you should make positive self-affirmations a priority for personal growth today.

1. Positivity breeds success. And it works both ways since successful people tend to think positively. Studies show that optimists have a higher general well-being and are usually more productive, more often promoted and typically earn more than pessimists. Why? The science behind it says that positive thinkers set higher goals and are more motivated to persist at them and achieve these goals. Moreover, positive self-affirmations help us strengthen our beliefs and empower us to reach our targets.

2. Positivity attracts good things. Positive people can attract other positive, powerful people and are always on the look for the next best thing. All these things typically translate to opportunities for success and a readiness to take anything on when it comes. If your self-perception is one of success, others will notice that and you will attract like minded individuals.

3. Positivity improves health. Studies have shown that our physical health is positively correlated with our mental health. Positive thinking has been correlated with a lower rates of depression and levels of distress, greater immunity, lowered risk of cardiovascular diseases, greater coping skills during times of duress and in direct relation to all that, an increased lifespan.

4. Positivity enhances relationships. We're automatically drawn to people who are positive and feel good. This is because when you feel better about yourself, you’re more comfortable to be around. That aside, positive thinking increases your self-esteem and internal security, making your relationships more naturally rewarding.

5. Positivity increases happiness. Here's why. Positive people typically have a greater capacity for love, joy and warmth. They are also usually more externally focused and are kinder and definitely more considerate to other people in their lives. Add that to success, good health and rewarding relationships – you’ve got higher general well-being.

Mahatma Ghandi once said:

Keep your thoughts positive because they become your words
Keep your words positive because they become your behaviors
Keep your habits positive because they become your values
Keep your values positive because they become your destiny.

What he said stresses on several important things. Firstly, we have control over our thoughts, words, habits and values. Secondly, what you sow is what you’ll reap. Today, many people actively strive to cultivate and maintain positive thinking for their personal growth because they are aware of the multitude of benefits positive thinking has in store for them. As such, their results demonstrate themselves everyday in the form of achievement and general well-being. So put on that thinking cap and generate some positive affirmations for yourself today to enjoy the benefits they will bring to every aspect of your life.

Sarah and Jerry have been married for five years. They wanted to have some excitement and fun before they decided to have some kids and so they intentionally developed an incredibly exciting social life.

The principal issue, however, is that nearly everything they do socially is associated with drinking. For example, all of the happy hours, dinner engagements, sporting events, parties with friends, and family get-togethers they attend have something to do with drinking.

Jerry and Sarah Start to See Some Noticeable Alcohol Related Issues That are Associated With Their Abusive Drinking

If they were occasional drinkers, this wouldn’t be such a difficult situation. Because they drink in an excessive manner, nevertheless, they are starting to see some unmistakable alcohol-related issues in their lives.

For instance, just four days ago Jerry received a third DWI and has been showing up late for work due to alcohol-related health issues. Furthermore, Jerry’s last two or three performance appraisals at his place of employment have been less than acceptable and he has begun to fail to remember what he says or does while he drinks. As a final point, Jerry has been experiencing sleep-related problems and his family is starting to get apprehensive about his drinking difficulties.

Similar to Jerry’s situation, Sarah has been feeling unhappy about life in general and to manage these feelings, she has been drinking more than any time in the past eleven months. Moreover, Sarah has been getting more than a few headaches and suffering from excruciating hangovers from drinking. Finally, Sarah has been feeling appreciably less active when she awakens, she has been getting to work late almost every Monday, and she has been getting some harsh criticism from her relatives, friends, family members, and coworkers about her irresponsible drinking.

Watching the Television and Flipping the Channels and Finding An Out-of-the-Ordinary Program About the Signs of Alcohol Dependency

One Sunday evening while watching the television, Jerry and Sarah went through the channels and found an attention-grabbing documentary about the signs of alcoholism.

This TV program was a real jolt to Sarah and Jerry because many of the alcoholism signs that were discussed appeared as if they were indisputably linked to numerous alcohol-related drinking problems Jerry and Sarah had been experiencing.

A Candid Chat About Drinking Behavior Exposes Alcohol Related Relationship, Health, Employment, Legal, and Financial Problems

After watching the television documentary, Sarah and Jerry made up their minds to have an open conversation about their drinking circumstances. They both were in agreement that most, if not all, of their social activities somehow involved drinking, that they were drinking in an abusive manner, and that as a married couple, they were beginning to see alcohol related employment, health, financial, legal, and relationship problems for the first time in their lives.

With thoughts of the television special still running through her mind, Sarah asked Jerry if some of the alcoholism signs they have been displaying could be a signal that they are alcoholic or maybe becoming addicted to alcohol. Jerry didn’t know the answer to Sarah’s inquiry and so he recommended that they make an appointment with one of the physicians at the nearby alcohol abuse treatment clinic to find out more about the seriousness of their drinking difficulties.

Attending To Your Drinking Difficulties Just May Lessen Your Trepidation and Give You A Degree of Peacefulness

Ironically, although their drinking situation hadn’t yet changed, it was clear that Jerry and Sarah were at least dealing with their drinking problems, they were willing to find out more about their drinking situation, and they were concerned about how they could significantly reduce or get rid of the alcohol-related difficulties that had started to deteriorate.

When Jerry and Sarah went to bed that night, they made up their minds that the next morning, Jerry would call and make an appointment for both of them at the alcohol rehabilitation center located downtown. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to surmount the alcohol-related difficulties that had manifested themselves in their lives, they actually had the most revitalizing night’s sleep they could recall in the last eight weeks.

Just before he fell asleep, Jerry turned to Sarah and observed how painless it is to lessen one’s apprehension and actually experience some serenity by addressing one’s problems with conviction and deciding to do something affirmative about them.

A New Memo About GOAL SETTING:
From One Future Thinking Consultant to Another

If self-improvement is what you believe in, then you should believe in books, because nearly all improvements that have taken place through the ages have happened through the written word. Books have a tendency toward affecting people on a deeply personal level. And, as more people read a book (or books about a particular topic), the effect becomes universal.

One of the best ways to help people who want to improve their Goal Setting is by passing along good information that works through books.

No matter which writer you speak to, you will get a different opinion about “how to write a book.” In fact, you might get as many opinions as the number of people you’ve asked.

Some will tell you to begin by writing a book proposal, others will say that using book writing software did the trick for them.

It is very important to know “how to write a book or book proposal and get it published”, but the real driving force for a business person are the motivations to write a book.

Each person has many reasons for writing a book, says book business expert DrProactive Randy Gilbert, but there are 4 that almost everyone has in common. The best way to satisfy those reasons it to a build a business around the book so that it makes money as it becomes a bestseller.

DrProactive calls it a “bestselling business,” because it can make you a bestselling author and a millionaire at the same time. Working quickly and starting to write a book proposal that has a business built as an integral part of it, is a smart thing to do.

If you need help motivating yourself to finally write a book, perhaps one of these benefits will inspire you.

#1 – A Bestselling Book is a Springboard For Marketing
The bigger clients will be much more likely to open the door to you as a Bestselling Author. The ‘big fish’ clients want someone with a large breadth and depth of expertise, and having a top selling book conveys this about you. This is the ultimate marketing tool and is certain to keep your fees going up and up.

#2 – Sell Lots of Books and You Will Have Your Own Sales Force Around the World
When your book becomes a New York Times bestseller it will get into more stores, which is like having a huge sales force, because people will be introduced to you and your products all across the globe. And, as they read your book, they are being convinced to have you give them more information specifically for their group. Plus you’ll discover that your book sells everything and everything sells your book.

#3 – A Bestselling Book is an Open Door to Tons of Media Worth Millions
Your Bestselling Book gives you mega-credibility with the news media, which opens doors to interviews in newspapers, magazines, on radio, and even on television. Bang for buck, you can’t beat this advertising Because being interviewed positions you as the expert, this form of advertising is far more effective than just buying ad spots.

#4 – Being a Bestselling Author is an Opportunity Multiplier
When you follow the mastermind principle and then proactively do all that is necessary to become a Bestselling Author earning a 7-figure income, you’ll be asked to join in unbelievable opportunities to earn even more money. People will want to joint venture with you in such a way that they will do nearly all of the work…and you’ll just enjoy the extra income.

SUMMARY:

You have to agree, no matter which reason is highest on your list, writing a good book and making it a bestseller is a life-changing event and it will make you want to take action. No matter what your most important reason might be, it is quite clear, writing a book is a very good thing.

Around seven weeks ago I read about a twenty-five-year-old lady named Rachael who is bipolar and who is also drug and alcohol dependent. I remember hearing that under such circumstances, an individual needs to get treatment for both medical problems and that mental health issues and addiction many times take place in the same individual. Furthermore, I recall reading that a history of negative drinking, drug abuse, and/or mental health issues quite often happen in the same family.

Evidently, Rachael is so crushed by both of her medical conditions that she, for all intents and purposes, has little or no drive to do much of anything. What is particularly unfortunate about this is that earlier in her life, Rachael managed to finish three-and-a-half-years of college. Rachael’s condition makes me question if she is an illustration of an individual who has to hit life’s bottom before he or she gets drug and alcohol addiction counseling that leads to long-term recovery.

The Need For a Psychologist She Trusts and a Rehab Regimen She Can Believe In

If I were in contact with Rachael I could recommend numerous blogs and websites that could possibly help her find information about addiction and alcoholic behavior, relevant chemical dependency information, facts about alcoholism and drugs, and more info about addiction symptoms and alcoholism warning signs. In my opinion, however, Rachael needs to locate a healthcare professional she trusts and a treatment protocol she can believe in and follow through over the long haul. I could be wrong but it seems logical to conclude that Rachael probably needs to admit the fact that she cannot drink in moderation or abuse drugs if she wants to get sober, stay sober, and start on the route to lasting sobriety.

I am mindful that there are some newly produced doctor-prescribed meds that can help Rachael avoid an alcohol or a drug relapse, help her through the drug and alcohol detox process, and help her through her withdrawal symptoms. Clearly it would be in Rachael’s best interests if she knew about these medications.

It is apparent that Rachael needs to admit the fact that there is absolutely nothing useful about hazardous and excessive drinking and drug abuse and that engaging in one or both circumstances is the path to legal problems, poor work and school performance, shattered relationships, financial difficulties, deteriorating health, and possibly a premature death.

The Relevance of Support Groups Like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous

There are possibly several persons such as family members, other people, and friends who would like to help Rachael but she more likely than not would experience greater sympathy from a recovery group such as Narcotics Anonymous or Alcoholics Anonymous instead of listening to people who drink in moderation or who have never taken drugs.

When Individuals Do Things They Love and About Which They Are Fervent

There’s a school of thought in life that contends that individuals who do things they love and something about which they are passionate arrive at a splendid place in life. That is, when people do what they love, they rarely if ever experience boredom or an uneventful life. If they involve themselves in something that is fulfilling, moreover, they become more complete and experience more contentment and delight in life.

To me, this sounds quite a bit different from a life that is rooted in drug and alcohol addiction because such a lifestyle removes the gratification and delight that life offers.

Due to the fact that Rachael lacks the motivation to achieve much of anything in her life, it is clear that she definitely needs some hope for a better existence. And the unfortunate thing is that hope is almost everywhere around Rachael if she could only get to the place in life to get the therapy she requires for her manic depression and drug addiction and alcoholism and continue with her treatment program.

A Wonderful Life, Self Respect, and Beneficial Change Are Possibilities

Rachael is simply too young to be defeated in life. She doesn’t realize this right now but if she can learn how to remove herself from alcohol and drugs via alcohol and drug rehabilitation and get the counseling she requires for her bipolar condition, she can reorient her life and start living with passion, self-respect, and direction.

A meaningful life, self esteem, and positive change are certainly possibilities for Rachael if only she could get motivated to seek the medical treatment she requires, follow through with her therapy protocol, live her life in a dependency-free and healthy way, and foster a more positive attitude about her existence.

Daniel had been engaging in abusive drinking behavior since her junior year in college. Now, nine years later, she drank more than ever. One Wednesday evening when she was feeling queasy, Daniel decided to stay home, chill out, and watch television.

While hunting for something to watch that would grab hold of her attention, she instantaneously became captivated with a program about young adult and teenage drinking stumbling blocks.

When Familiar Alcoholism Symptoms and Signs are Revealed by Alcohol Dependent Individuals

The commenter talked about the difference between alcohol abuse and alcoholism and then discussed the topic of alcohol dependency symptoms and alcoholism warning signs. When the spokesperson discussed a person’s alcoholic behavior and some of the more common alcoholic symptoms and signs that alcohol addicted people exhibit, Daniel got quite disturbed because it almost seemed as if the commenter was talking specifically to her.

After watching the TV program, Daniel made a promise to herself that she would call her physician the following morning and make an appointment to discuss her drinking situation.

When the following morning arrived, true to her word, Daniel called her physician and made an appointment. While she was waiting for the day of her appointment to arrive, she went on the web and did a search for alcoholic symptoms. Especially noteworthy were the following symptoms or signs: sleep problems, substantial relationship and work-related problems, making excuses to drink at virtually every opportunity, sneaking extra drinks before social events, and increasing irritability.

Simply put, due to the fact that Daniel manifested all of these signs she went further in her Internet search and found quite a lot of websites and blogs that highlighted different alcohol dependency warning signs and symptoms.

One of the symptoms that really caught her awareness was the following: “Do you usually drink after promising yourself that you won’t?” While Daniel never totally comprehended the fact that she may have a severe drinking difficulty, after reading about the various alcohol addiction symptoms and warning signs, she couldn’t refute the fact that for the past three or four months, she constantly tried but failed at significantly diminishing her drinking or totally quitting.

When Friends and People at Your Place of Employment Pester You by Objecting to Your Hazardous Drinking Behavior

Another alcoholism sign that took hold of her awareness was the following: “Have people at work hassled you by frowning upon your drinking behavior?” When Daniel read this she instantaneously called to mind a recent quarrel she had with her aunt about her irresponsible drinking. In addition, Daniel without a doubt called to mind a recent quarrel she had with her parents about her irresponsible drinking behavior. Since Daniel frankly believed that she didn’t have a drinking issue, when relatives brought up her drinking behavior she logically got aggravated and irritated.

A third alcohol addiction warning sign was the following: “Do you want a drink when you first awaken in the morning?” Until now, Daniel had been lying to herself about her drinking situation. After reading about the aforementioned alcoholism warning symptoms, nonetheless, she knew if she was really forthright with herself that she was facing a critical drinking issue, especially given the fact that she now felt that she required a drink the first thing in the morning to cut down on her constant worry.

What is more, the next alcoholism symptom really got her thinking about her drinking situation: “Do you drink to keep away from suffering or pain?” When she reflected on her life for a few minutes, she grasped the fact that just about in every stressful circumstance in the past few months, she told herself that she needed a drink to help manage things.

The final alcohol addiction symptom that made her feel rather on edge about her drinking condition was the following: “Has your motivation dropped off since you started drinking more frequently?” When Daniel read this sign she openly recognized that drinking had become a critical issue in her life because of her lack of energy and also because she quit pursuing her dreams and her passions.

Conclusion: When Getting Morose Turns Into Something Wonderful and A Sense of Hope

For the past twenty-one years Natalie has been a licensed practical nurse at a local Catholic hospital. As a nurse practitioner, she obviously knew what to tell her patients when it came to their health concerns but in her off-duty life, nevertheless, she definitely didn’t practice what she preached. For example, she normally drank quite heavily, she made it a habit to stay away from exercising, she smoked two packs of cigarettes on a day-to-day basis, and she was approximately fifty-five pounds overweight.

Natalie Gets Into An Automobile Accident, Fails An Alcohol Test, and Goes to The Municipal Jail

One evening on her way to the hospital, Natalie got into a car accident. Since the accident was her fault and since her speech was garbled when she talked, the arresting policeman gave her a breathalyzer test. In concurrence with standard law enforcement operating procedures, when an individual gets involved in an automobile accident and tests positive for a breathalyzer test, the person has to spend at least six hours in the county jail.

In fact, Natalie should have known better than to drive after she had been drinking because she recently participated in an “alcohol awareness” class at the hospital that focused on issues, statistics, and information about alcohol facts such as the following: binge drinking, alcohol poisoning, DUIs, and the primary differences between alcohol abuse and alcoholism.

Natalie is Quite Embarrassed About Her Automobile Accident

Needless to say, Natalie was humiliated by her car accident. Moreover, she was feeling a lot of shame about the fact that the accident was her fault. And perhaps worst of all, she was embarrassed about the fact that she was driving after she had been drinking. As Natalie contemplated her situation, however, she knew that it could have been worse because at work, when a alcohol blood test is administered and failed, the individual has to go to obligatory alcohol treatment and is placed on non-pay status. This was in essence one of the alcohol facts that was a reality at the hospital and not much could change this fact.

Natalie’s Shame About Her Car Accident Helps Motivate Her To Reevaluate Her Life and Make Some Remarkable and Beneficial Modifications

At any rate, Natalie’s shame about her vehicle accident made her reexamine her life and make some substantial and beneficial changes. First, she was going to stop drinking in an irresponsible and hazardous manner. Second, she was going to stop smoking. Third, she was going to go on a weight-loss diet. And fourth, she was going to begin exercising.

As troubled as Natalie was about the entire car accident situation, she used this awful experience as a catalyst for healthy change. Not only this but, she used her awful experience as a wake up call that she had been failing to address her own health while she openly told other people how to live in a more healthy manner. At last, she eventually saw the pretense in her actions and came to a decision that she would live her life as a constructive source of hope for other individuals.
